My son recently had his first 2 visits to get dental work done. Both visits he was given novacaine. After the first visit, he did not report any side effects but does not mean he did not have any. It may not have occurred to him to mention it. After the second visit, at about the time the novacaine numbness wore off 5 hours or so later, he got a tremor in his left arm and hand, then later his right leg was affected as well. This continued for 3 days before ending.
Can you please tell me what type of doctor to follow up with to find out what is going on and prevent a possible worse reaction if he should get novacaine again. The dentist refused to admit that the novacaine could have been the cause as it did not occur as soon as he gave him the shot.
But when I looked it up online, it did say that there are such things as delayed reactions and that if he does in fact have mitochondrial issues that novacaine can cause issues. He has never been tested for mitochondrial problems.
Please tell me where I can go to find out how to proceed as he has additional dental work that he will need to get done.
