Still having this issue, very very subtle, rapid shaking and it's not present when resting, only while moving. Could just be nerves?
It's been a few days though..
Thanks for the reply Dr Srivastava, it might not surprise you to know that I am a medical student recently suffering from a bad bout of hypochondria! This might be the cause, and all my prodding of my thenar has left my thumb feeling a bit sprained and that could possible be the cause.
PD would give an essential tremor wouldn't it? This is definitely not a resting tremor, it occurs only while flexing the thenar muscles and drawing my thumb into the palm.
Thank you for your question. Although without being able to examine you I can not offer you the specific advice on diagnosis and treatment that you need, but I would try to provide you some relevant information about your health concern.
Generally, this kind of non-intentional tremors occur when you are depressed or stressed due to general anxiety disorder. A doctor may suggest counseling or psychotherapy, physiotherapy, treating related stress and avoidance of triggering factors by doing meditations/yoga that can be helpful in recovering from the condition. Other possible causes of tremors could be overactive thyroid, Parkinsonism disease, alcohol use, certain medications, alkalosis, and low blood sugar. Sometimes previous injury may cause pinched nerve and may be a reason of tremor but this possibility remains low. Additionally, it will be helpful if you keep the tremor occurrence log where you can record and specifics the tremor, including how long they lasted, any triggering factors that you may have noticed. This will help your doctor to determine the nature of the tremor and factors that causing it, therefore what kind of treatment need to be started. Hope this information proves helpful to you.
Take Care & Regards!!!
It's a few hours later and it's still quite pronounced. My thumb has a rapid tremor when I move it toward my pain - moving it out to the side away from my hand doesn't cause it.
Any ideas?
