Lumbar Puncture headaches 3 weeks on

I had a lumbar puncture 3 weeks ago and I'm still suffering from a severe and constand headache and facial numbness which started after the procedure.

Is this normal and is there anything I can do.

I am waiting for a diagnosis of either ms or transverse mylelits.  Could these headaches just be a symptom of the above conditions?

Any advice would be appreciated.  Many thanks

Hi,

How are you?
Is this headache postural? Also do you have any accompanying symptoms like nausea and vomiting?
This headache occurs due to continued leakage of CSF. An epidural blood patching is usually done.
I would suggest you to please check with your doctor about it. Do keep us posted!

There is an almost sure way to know if you have a CSF leak.

When you lie down FLAT, does your headache go away or at least ease up?  If so, call your doctor immediately, because you probably do have a CSF leak.

Either way, you should inform the doctor who did the puncture to be safe.

God Bless!

I have been through a myelogram many times and once I had to get a blood patch due to the CNS leak.  The blood patch works great.  Hope you feel better soon.  That is way too long to deal with that kind of pain and agony.
