I just got my daughters 2nd MRI results and the FINDINGS: The predominantly T2-weighted hyperintense mass involving the cranial aspect of the left thalamus appears unchanged on axial and sagittal images. On the coronal T2-weighted images the craniocaudal dimension of the lesion has increased 3-4 mm since the previous examination with slightly increased mass effect exerted on the inferior aspect of the posterior body of the left lateral ventricle. Normal basilar signal voids are maintained intracranially. Additionally, there is slightly increased nodularity and T2 prolongation of the left subglottic region, best appreciated on the coronal T2-weighted images. As previously, few small foci of marked T1 and T2 prolongation are present at the posterior aspect of the mass. Following administration of intravenous contrast material no abnormal enhancement of the lesion is seen. No hydrocephalus is present. No restricted diffusion is identified intracranially. There is mild facilitated diffusion within the solid components of the lesion. Note is made of a right cerebellar developmental venous anomaly, insignificant. No leptomeningeal enhancement is present. Normal vascular signal voids are maintained intracranially. The extracranial tissues are unremarkable. Normal aeration of the middle ear cavities, mastoid air cells and visualized paranasal sinuses in seen.
CONCLUSION IS: Compared with the examination from 12/13 slightly increased craniocaudal dimension of the lesion involving the left thalamus and subthalamic region is noticed, best appreciated on the coronal T2-weighted images. There is slightly increased mass effect exerted on the inferior aspect of the left lateral ventricular body posteriorly.
Can someone please help me understand what this is saying? Thank you Tye
