I am a 49 year old female with a number of symptoms that don't seem to match any malady I've found. Over a year ago I started having short term memory loss & congnative problems. I was also experiencing a slight balance problem that I told I didn't have. Over the past 6 months the balance problem has worsened to the point that I'm falling or tripping everyday and am totally imballanced in the dark. In addition, I've developed hand tremors that are noticable to everyone, there is a constant "buzzing" in my ears (sounds like Cicadas) and now I'm having trouble starting urination. About a year ago, I underwent extensive neurological testing (you name it, they did it) with no answers. I was told that there was some unusual brain wave activity (huh?) and that my brain had some atrophy. Apparently it wasn't bad, but the neurologist said it looked more like someone in their 60s than their 40s. The increasingly poor balance and hand tremors are forcing me to look (again) for answers, but I don't have a clue where to start.u I've undergone a lot of medical procedures, evaluations & screenings and have spent thousands of dollars already. Any ideas of what my problem could be? What kind of doctor should I go to? HELP!
