I am a 25-year-old female PhD student. I have previously suffered two seizures, one I was told was typically epileptic but the other was not as I was concious but unable to control my flickering eyes, or to move or speak. These were about a year apart, after the second I was banned from driving for a year and had plenty of neurological tests which were all normal. I was discharged and it didn't happen again for over a year and a half, until last night. However, I'm not sure if what I had last night was a seizure. I was about to get up from the sofa but stopped as I got a sharp pain in my hip (I have experienced this before, associated with my severe irritable bowel syndrome). It was an overwhelming pain and I lay back on the sofa and attempted to move my leg to ease the pain. I experienced a brief feeling of nausea and then was absent - it felt as if a long time had passed and I was somewhere else, possibly even with dreaming about fir trees, then I became aware of my boyfriend telling me to relax and asking if I was ok. He said my eyes had remained open but that he thought I was unconcious for about 5 seconds, whilst my leg had been tensed up in a stress position. Afterwards I had ringing in my ears, couldn't string a sentence together for a couple of minutes and felt very sick and tired. Does anyone know if it is possible to faint with your eyes open? Did I faint from pain or was this a seizure? If it was a seizure, how could it be related to the pain in my hip? I really don't want to go to my doctor and be banned from driving again. If this was a seizure, then all three have happened in the evening, when I've been tired and sat on the sofa, or in one case in bed. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Thank you
