Pineal Cyst

every now and again i have these episodes that start out as distorted vision that starts out small and grows throught my vision. after that i get a really bad headache and i become very tired. Last year and MRI showed that i have a cyst on my pineal gland. the neurologist said not to worry about it because it woundnt grow. Does the cyst have something to do with these episodes ?

Hi, Thank you for your question. Pineal cyst is a brain cyst that may remain asymptomatic for long years. But if it is large it can cause headache, poor attention span, visual disturbance, paralysis, seizures and gait disorders. Therefore, surgical intervention is essential to remove the large cyst and if permanent damage needs to be avoided.  Craniotomy, needle aspiration and cerebral shunts are common surgical treatment that may help.  Please consult a neurologist right away in this regard. Have migraines been ruled out? I used to get geometric designs in bright colors that distorted my vision but did not get the headaches and was told it was migraines.
