Severe episodes of lightheadedness

Dear Doctor,

I am an 18 year old male. Since the beginning of the month I have been experiencing intermittent light-headedness. At its worst it comes and goes about every 30 seconds. I seem to have episodes where it is worse. Sometimes my arms feel about to float away! Sometimes I will get a sensation in my chest that is hard to describe, but it is weird. I don't know what brought this on, but heavy lifting may have been a part, as I get worse after lifting heavy objects. Lying down does not improve my symptoms at all. Please help. I have an appointment with the doctor but I am considering going to the E.R. I really need your help doctor. Thank you.

Hi,

Thanks for the update.
High cholesterol and obesity can cause dizziness and light headedness. Please continue with your exercises and healthy diet. Hopefully your symptoms will resolve soon.

Hi,

Thanks for writing in.
It is possible that these symptoms are due to generalized weakness, overwork and fatigue. Please make sure you do not over exert yourself, eat healthy and on time. Do not go hungry for prolonged periods of time. Make sure you get 8 hrs of sleep in the night. OTC multivitamin supplements will also help.
If your symptoms fail to improve then please get yourself clinically evaluated by your PCP.
Take care!

Actually I don't know whether heavy lifting plays a part or not anymore. I had to lift something about 20 pounds and carry it about 10 meters and then up a few stairs and I was fine the rest of the day. I have been exercising 30 minutes a day for 2 days now on an exercise bike for the purpose of trying to lower my cholesterol and weight and I don't get any more lightheaded than usual during that. I hope this helps, Doctor.

Doctor, I heard back from the doctor's office and he's saying the blood test showed I have high cholesterol. Do you think this could be contributing to my symptoms?
