Random dizziness

I have been to the Doctors, but they gave me the impression that they really couldn't care/believe me. For the last 2 day I have had a constant dull headache around my temples are forehead. Whenever I move my head back halfway, there feels like a great weight is being pushed down on my head and behind my face and I start to spin, but not black out. This only happens when I look up. I don't have an ear infection, but I have noticed that my balance if off too. (i'm not a hypochondriac :-P) Doctor said it was Vertigo and gave me some Torecan. But because I only get dizzy when my head is in a certain position, I doubt that this is vertigo. Any suggestions?

Hi,
I am a doctorate student in audiology, which is the profession that specializes in hearing and balance.  Based on your symptoms, it is possible that you could be suffering from benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV).  Dizziness or vertigo occurs when you move your head in certain positions, as you have described.  I would recommend that you see an otolaryngologist (ENT doctor) for further evaluation and treatment.  Something can be done to help!

Do you have any other symptoms at all?  Have you had any testing (MRI, CT scan)?
If you find a doctor that will actually listen to you please let me know.  My husband is having the same symptom and we are being told "vertigo is quite common" .  Good luck!!
