Seeing things?

Hello. I have been diagnosised with IIH. I am awaiting surgery for a V-P shunt. Have been taking Pred (25mgsDaily) for a year. Also Diomax,500mgs. I began to taper Pred  four  weeks ago. Since then I have ben experiencing return of bad temple pain, and unusual sight problems. It looks like, to me,  I have a stray hair on the outer rim of my eye which I dont. Also I have "threads". I dont know how else to discribe them. If, for ex, I raise my arm, a "thread "seems to follow it.Last night, wearing a light colour pink top with black flowers on it, raised my arm to do something and saw the flowers hang in space and then gently fall back to the material.I think I now know that the threads are the slow motion image.I went to se my dr today and he just said go back up to 25mgs of Pred. He did put drops in my eyes to look at the papilloedema and said he wa s concerned about the high pressure but thats all. I am seeing my neuro in two weks time. I know I sound like a nut case but I am getting frightened by all this. Can any one give me an idea whats going on?Are my eyes in danger? Thank you very much if you reply.Cath278

Hi Cath, I'm just now seeing your issue and resolution. How frightening to see something so not normal. This stupid illness is just obnoxious.

Hopefully you feel better soon and thank you for your knowledge.

This reply, even tho it appears to be to myself,is for any one who might be concerned by the above problems.I found the answer while I waited, in vain, again, for a response from the Neurology Community. Thanks every one!

Strange visual effects and optical illusions. They are quite common with people who have IIH or high csf levels. They are mostly caused by the pressure on the optic nerve (from raised csf) but sometimes how the eye movment is controlled by the cranial nerves that govern how the eyes work together can also be affected.
A simple answer to a very frighting problem.Cath278
