Severe head pain

For 2 years I have been suffering from a severe pain in the  right side of my head.  This causes a pain in my right eye and ear.  If I sneeze or cough,,,, its as if my brain is rattling around inside my head.  I also suffer from tinitus.  The pain is worse when laying down.     At times I feel very vague and have to do a "recall" about what I am supposed to be doing.

Problems have not been too bad for a few months but in the last week I have caught what might be a cold.  This "cold" appears approx every three months. My nose does not get blocked or run or drip.   I wake during the night with sweat running off me. I feel dizzy, weak, everything I eat and drink tastes horrible, and there seems to be a smell of burning to most food. Colours on TV seems as if they keep going bright then dull.

In the early stages of this "cold"  I get periods of shivering , I sound as if my nose is stuffed up and I have difficulty talking as if I am gasping for my last breath.
I am male and 59 years old.

Obviously you are unaware of what a rubbish health system we have in the UK.  After several visits to my local health centre the only advise I was given was to stop smoking. Although I was complaining of severe  head pains I discovered that the doctors were entering it in my records as a headache.  I think the reasoning behind this is that doctors are under pressure from  the National Health Service to save money.  Everthing I have red on my symptons recommends some form of scan,  but a doctor might be worried that the results might be negative after sending somebody to the hospital for a scan Therefore by entering my pain as a headache,  and should I then drop dead,  they could say  "well he reported that he had headaches"   I thonk you also have to be fairly persistant to get anything done here.

There is  pressure on the right side of my head and the right eye is not as it should be.

Have you had a thorough physical?

Would you say you have a feeling in your head like it's "full" or a lot of pressure inside?
