Severe migraines and confused about MRI findings. Please Help.

Hello. Ever since I was a child, I have suffered from very bad headaches. As I have gotten older, the headaches have gotten progressively worse. I've seen several doctors who have diagnosed me with Migine headaches. I have been prescribed several different types of medications yet none of them seem to work, in fact, some have aggrivated the pain. I am now 30 and am seeing a neurologist, which recommended an MRI. I received a copy of the MRI resuls but the doctor has not spoken to me concerning the findings. The findings state the following:

"Scattered punctate T2 signal hyperintensities are noted in the subcortical white matter bilaterally."

Can someone please tell me what exactly this means. I am pretty familiar with the brain and the function and the white matter, but I don't understand what this means and I am really worried.

Thank you.

Your MRI shows scattered, tiny areas of damage.  Findings like this are often seen in migraine sufferers.  Your neurologist can answer more completely.
