I have noticed somethings trigger it. I get headaches ( behind my eye, on top, or back of my head very small areas with almost crippling peircing pain) very regularly, but i have not notice a link between my headaches and my pain. The pain is most notably triggered by alcohol and it seems to trigger the worst pain. I get the pain without this trigger but its never severe enough to complain about. My pain covers a large portion of my body: chest, stomach, sides , back(except over the spine), shoulders, back of neck, under arms, and inner thighs. I get this pain on my scalp after washing my hair only. This pain seems sensative to cold as well as touch and hurts for a much shorter time frame.
Hi there. Allodynia is seen in association with migraine headaches. Allodynia is also very important feature of complex regional pain syndrome. Complex regional pain syndrome CRPS is a chronic progressive disease characterized by severe pain, swelling in the skin. There are two kinds based on presence of nerve lesion following the injury. Type I does not have demonstrable nerve lesions. Type II has evidence of obvious nerve damage. The cause of this syndrome is unknown and could be precipitated by injury and surgery. There have been cases with no demonstrable injury to the original site. spontaneous pain or pain from a stimulus as light as touch, which would not provoke pain normally, not limited to the territory of a single peripheral nerve and disproportionate to the inciting event are characteristics. other conditions are fibromyalgia, neuropathy, postherpetic neuralgia. Discuss this with your neurologist who will decide the best course of action. Take care.
My doctor tells me that the burning is cause by the damaged nerves in the cervical neck and further up along the brainstem due to my Chiari. I have learned to live in short sleeves and us a cap to wrap up in should I can cold. That way my arns or exposed.
Good luck with your search,
Cindy
