I have been suffering with horrendous pain for over 6 years. I've been told I have a "triple crush" . The pinched nerves in my neck cause a pain like being stabbed in the shoulder with a dull screwdriver. It then radiates down my the back of my arm in a constant dull ache, and finishes in my wrist and hand which usually has a burning pain in my ring finger and pinky.
The doctors I have seen prescribe pain meds which have helped tremendously, but they are either starting to lose effectiveness or the pain has gotten much worse. I have been frustrated in trying to find any real solutions and I am now falling into deep depression at times.
Hope to hear from others on these forums.
It is ridiculous that the government once again gets in the way of doctor patient relationships, we should have a say in our care. Unite!
Sorry to hear it. I had no idea. All pain clinics refuse medicaid? You live in Louisiana? (or los angeles?) I'm here in Louisiana.
thats the problem i live on ssi and on medicaid pain clinics wont take medicaid but thanks for the advice it was nice just hearing from you still hurting in la.
Please make an appt with a pain management doctor. You can only get this appt through a reference from your regular doctor. If they'lll take you w/o the reference, dont use that one and go to another. (very bad business) My internal medicine doctor who does our primary care told me the same thing.(no more drugs from me) It may not be personal. Doctors are are leaned on heavily now not to prescribe pain killers for long time use to patients who are actually listed as "chronic", because the pain is so longstanding. My state could take the license of a doctor who does this now, because of those doctors who prescribe addictive drugs with no questions for a "fee". These doctors usually end up as small articles in the newspaper and go to jail. Any good doctor would get the message and protect his/her interests legally. I needed everyday pain relief too. I was on oxycodone. My doctor said I would HAVE to go to a pain management clinic and it really made me mad and hurt my feelings..
I went reluctantly and I am so glad I did. They'll work with you to really discover exactly what will give you the best relief. You have no idea how the focus of specialists with pain cessation will change things for you.I ended up on patches which I highly recommend (duragesic). They work so well, that I forgot about the pain and got on with my life. I wish you well.
