You have a serious life-threatening illness and your survival depends upon religiously following physician's instructions. You will be prescribed antibiotics that must be taken for a long time. Bear in mind that a tb infection is never ever cured. The organisms go into hidey-holes and the best you can hope for is remission. There are several varieties of tb. With proper care you have excellent chances for recovery. The double vision should be evaluated by as neurological opthamologist. If the cause is simple third-cranial nerve palsy the double vision usually resolves (not always) after six to twelve weeks.,
Thanks Caregiver222.
I do understand the importance of taking medicine religiously on time.
Thanks for pointing to Neuro Opthamologist. Will take his advice.
Any advice on Food/Medicinal supplements to beat AKT-4 side effects or to keep immune system healthy against TBM in general?
Yup. Keep your vitamin D3 levels up. The norm is 30, but many people have non-existent levels. Some physicians recommend that levels be kept as high as 100. I can't recommend exact levels. Get a D3 test (inexpensive). D3 is essential to maintaining the immune response, as well as vitamin C. Do a google search on vitamin C and D3 and the immune system. Good luck.
Its been 5 days taking AKT... I still get fever and bad headache twice a day... is this normal? When can I expect these to go away... ???
Also.. I was on iv till yesterday and it has now been completely stopped... I am taking medicine orally...
