VER test & Unilateral loss of vision

I fell on 1/1/2013 & spained my neck, back & right hip and shortly after noticed a sudden loss of vision in my right eye. I have been to 4 ophthamologists' & a nuero-ophthamologist who could not explain the reason & could onlycorrect the vision to 20/100. I don't know if I hit my head at the time, but believe I did lose consiousness, as my memory is foggy as I was in extreme pain at the time & immediately went to ER.
I just saw a new neurolgist, as the 1st one would not look into the matter and had a VER -  Visual evoked response - test done yesterday. I know the results were different between the 2 eyes. Does anyone know what this test is for ( what the results determine) or had it done? For one eye the pattern was small waves & a slope upwards on @ a 45 degree angle with more small waves at the top, then a gradual slope down. The other eye started with similar waves then a sharp slope up & a sharp slope down (like an inverted V). Thanks!

Thank you for your response. I did receive a copy of my results yesterday, but did not speak to my neurologist. My right eye P100 latency tested at 116.8 & the left at 113.3. The note on the test results stated it suggests involvement of the optic nerve. I spoke to the doctor's assistant who explained that he does not handle these types of cases & would be referring me to another specialist.

Hi there!

VER is a test to check for neurological signals for a visual stimulus i.e. neurological/ brain interpretation of a visual input or hoe the brain responds to a visual. Well, it would be difficult to comment on a VEP without having a look at the actual test and the graph. I would suggest discussing the test and the situation in detail with your treating neurologist for a definite diagnosis and suggestion of an appropriate management plan.
