Left sided weakness and dysesthesia

Hello,

I am a 36 year old female with left arm and leg weakness not yet diagnosed. I have also been experiencing dysethesia(specifically pins and needles).  I was hospitalized for two weeks last month for these symptoms.  My neurological exam revealed dysdiadochokinesis on the left hand.  My motor exam revealed left sertnocleidmostoid weakness (4/5) and left tricep and bicep weakness and left leg weakness (all 4/5).  My sensory exam revealed diffusely decreased sensation through my left leg and thigh. On the second day of my admission, my left sided weakness progressed to 2/5.  The rest of my symptoms were stable and I was oriented.

I was subjected to a number of investigations. A lumbar puncture and EMG did not reveal any abnormality.  A CT scan revealed six hypoattenuating lesions in non-contiguous distribution located throughout my cortex.  Further investigations by MRI revealed six scattered T2 hypertintense tiny deep white matter lesions in the supratentorial, frontal, bilateral subcortical deep white matter and in the left periventricular white matter.  These were felt to be non specific. Bloodwork and echocardiogram were fine with the exception of an elevated IGE titre and slightly high ESR.

Previous medical history includes idiopathic bilateral uveitis (June, 2006) which resulted in secondary glaucoma.  I received a trabeculectomy in my left eye in October and the uveitis is still active. I am now experiencing symptoms on my right side (specifically pins and needles and  "vibrations".) I also have some sensations of burning and feelings of cold in my extremities.  I am using a walker and engaged in physiotherapy.  I was told this might be nothing or something of more sinister origin.  MS was also mentioned but not diagnosed.  Any thoughts? Many thanks.

Sounds like classic MS to me but I am no doctor. I am dealing with left sided weakness as well right now but mine is more of left jaw, swallowing, neck, arm and leg weakness. I am a 36 year old male. MS was mentioned and Lyme also. Don't be completely fooled by Lyme though, when people don't know what wrong anymore they always blame it on Lyme. I am from Lyme, CT so I am treating my condition with heavy antibiotics just o be safe but I think I also have something else.

Keep me posted on your progress will you please, would love to know what you turn up with.

I had sudden onset of left sided facial and head dysesthesia after experiencing a complicated migraine Aug. 29, 1985. I have lived with the itching and burning since.

Do some research on lyme disease.  Sounds just like late stage neuro lyme.
