Due to having volume loss in the posterior fossa of my brain, I've done some research, myself. I have MS though. So it's not all just from the volume loss that I have the symptoms I do.. But I will tell you they are worse than they should be. My balance and coordination is off pretty bad and I get this feeling in my head that's indescribable if I look up or tilt my head back. This also happens when I'm laying down. I hope your fiance is ok. I do truly believe that her balance and other dilemmas are due to the volume loss. Hopefully by now you've been able to figure out the cause of the volume loss. Good luck to you.
Hi,
How are you?
It is very difficult to tell as to why is there a decrease in volume of the posterior fossa without looking at the report.
Posterior fossa is a part of the intracranial cavity. It houses the cerebellum and brain stem. Cerebellum controls our sense of balanace and optic and acoustic centres are also in vicinity of the posterior fossa.
The reduced volume could be due to brain tumor, stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage etc.
Please discuss these findings with her neurologist.
