hands going cold, numbness in left arm, heart murmur

30yr female
5'6" 130lbs
history: asthma, juvenile arthritis,(grad mal seizure--as a child).

for the past three months i have been experiencing my right hand going cold (like a corps) with stiffness and pain, i shrugged it off, but things got worse. waking up EVERY night with a "dead arm" my left one. during the day no problems with the left, just the right hand starts getting cold, and then right leg and foot with numbness and electrical pulses. i have a standing doc apt on the 23rd, and was just diagnosed with a heart murmur (abnormal), but after a long night of breathing problems, i freaked out this morning because, when i woke up my left hand was tingling, i readjusted and sat up right waiting for the pain to go away, instead  it just intensified with complete paralysis in my left hand stuck in a fixed position. it took forever to subside (the whole time it felt like i was holding a ball of electricity in my hand), then my left hand went cold for the first time....wtf this is too much, what is going on?....the 23rd seems so far away.

So I know this forum's last activity was in 2016, but I waned to leave a comment because it may hep save someones life. Last weekend me and my boyfriend were drinking a lot and he has a heart murmur and he tells me he cant seem to catch his breath. 10 minutes later he tells me both hands are numb, 15 minutes from that he says his left arm is completely numb and his hands are locking up. I was really scared and starting thinking to the times when I would have a migraine and my mom would put a bag of frozen veggies or ice on the back of my neck and stick my feet in a tub filled with super hot water, and within 5 minutes my migraine went away. Well i realized the only reason that worked is because it manually jumped my blood's circulation. So i immediately grabbed a bag of ice and stuck it on the back of my boyfriends neck, He said that felt amazing, so i started the tub and filled it with super hot water. I told him to stick his feet in, he did and couldn't feel it for about a full minute, after that minute he jumped out and said it was really hot on his feet but he felt better and his breathing became normal. He kept putting his feet in and taking them out because it was hot. He did that for about 5 minutes and finally got all feeling back in his hands and left arm.  After that he felt fine but knew his murmur was acting up. I hope by sharing this knowledge it can help someone else. Even if it helps for the few minutes you need before an ambulance arrives.

Thank you for your question. Although without being able to examine you I can not offer you the specific advice on diagnosis and treatment that you need, but I would try to provide you some relevant information about your health concern.

From the symptoms you describe, it sounds that it could be either a circulatory disturbance (due to compression of blood vessels) or a nerve pinched in your hand.  This may most likely occurs due to any clots in blood vessels, excessive alcohol use or diabetes. I would suggest evaluating all the possibilities with the help of a doctor first. Further referral to a neurologist will surely help you in getting a more precise opinion here. Hope this information proves help you.

Take Care & Regards!!!
