White Matter Lesions - NO SYMPTOMS

I recently went to my GP concerned about some severe headaches that I was experiencing.  My doctor sent me for a CAT scan and said some abnormalities were found and he wanted me to go to a neurologist and also for a MRI.  When the MRI results came back the neurologist informed me that I have many small white matter lesions but because I am only 44 this is extremely rare.  My BP is normal and I have no symptoms of any kind.  My neurologist is now sending me for another CAT scan and more detailed blood work.  Both my doctor and neurologist seem to be stumped as to the cause of these lesions.  Does anybody have any idea as to what could be the cause???

Thanks

All I know is migraines can cause lesions.....not sure if they can be prevented other than getting treated for the headaches....meds .
I am not aware that u should have issues because of the lesions...such as memory loss...did ur dr say to expect that?

What condition r u referring to?To me it sounded like u do not have a dx....only some lesions and headaches.....u need to relax and wait to see what ur dr finds.

Keep track of what u eat and r doing prior to onset of ur headache to see what triggers them.....

Good luck

So if my headaches continue, this means the lesions may get worse and I may start having symptoms of memory loss and loss of coordination that is common with this condition?  Does anyone know what can be done to prevent further lesions??

Hi...lesions can be the result of migraines or an injury...since u have migraines...it is possible that is what they r from.Leisons can be a result of a stroke also, mayb ur NL isn't looking at the whole pic.....leisions r a sign to watch for with MS and other conditions...ur age can be older than the norm, but it is possible I am sure.

U say no symptoms, but u also state u went for severe headaches...that is a symptom...of something.

I hope ur drs find out what is going on...u may ned a 2nd opinion.

Good luck
