What were your wife's symptoms?
I realize this is an old thread, but my wife has been diagnosed w/ CIDP. Bfor this she had 2 previous back surgeries, all bfor her 30th birthday. The 1st surgery was in june 2006 (anterior spinal fusion). After the 1st fusion failed she had posterier 360 degree fusion (2 rods and 4 screws) in January 2009. Xmas eve 2009 she had a rapid onset of symmetrical Polyneuropathy in both feet up to the calf.
Was originally diagnosed with pernicious anemia (low b12). Saw neurologist who said he doubted the anemia DX b/c of sudden onset. She has since bee Dx w/ CIDP. Been receiving in-home IVIG treatments for 3-4 months now. They help for up to a month, but not longer (yet). Doc says some ppl respond better after a while of treatments. Hope this helps, sorry so long. Please update as we are new to CIDP and treatments. Anyone have any more knowledge of CIDP and treatments
CIDP (Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy) is an autoimmune disorder. I've never seen anything that links it to prior injury, but this is not my field of expertise. Have you contacted any of the organizations that deal with it to ask them?
You can search for cidp or for the full name and find various groups.
I'm sorry for the problems your husband is having and I wish you both the best, Quix
