My 11 yrs. old son also just had an MRI that said dandy walker variant. His cystic is 3.7 cm x 8.4 cm x 4.9 cm. He has many tics. What does it mean that it "communicated w/ the superior vermin cistern, however not communicated to the fourth ventricle"?

Hi,
A Dandy walker cyst of 3.5 cm is not considered to be a very large cyst but it is moderate. It is neither very small. Please get your son examined and evaluated by a neurologist at regular intervals to check for the possible complications that the cyst may cause by compressing the adjacent structures of the brain.  Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!
