Very concerned about pain/tingling in arms and legs; having suicidal thoughts

One day about 3 weeks ago, both of my arms began to tingle nonstop, and the next morning when I woke up they were totally numb. Moving them around for a few seconds made them come back to life, but the tingling was still there and got worse when I bent my elbows. I didn't think much of it because 2-3 days prior I had been in the gym doing benchpresses, squats and deadlifts with weights (which I had never done before that). I decided to just wait, thinking, whatever, it'll go away after a couple of days. I should mention that I'm a 24 year old male, if that matters.

Then the same sensation spread down into my legs after a couple of days. And it's much more than a bit of tingling or numbness; it's this intermittent stabbing pain that is affecting both of my feet and calves and to a lesser extent, my thighs and buttocks. Sometimes it feels as if tiny bugs are crawling around under my skin, particularly in my toes and the bottoms of my feet.

I went to the doctor for a routine physical. The doctor was rather dismissive of the problem and just told me to be patient and wait for it to go away. I had a bloodwork done and all of my numbers were within the normal ranges. A couple of days later I had an acupuncture session which simply didn't do anything.

Then a few days later the pain intensified. The upper part of my back began to hurt terribly and the tingling and shooting pain in my arms and legs continued. July 10th-11th were hell. I could do nothing but lay about on the couch and I wasn't sleeping. Finally, on Sunday the 12th, I put my foot down and went to an urgent care center. There I had an x-ray done. The doctor told me my spine looked normal except that I had lost the curvature in the upper part of my spine, most likely due to muscle spasms. She prescribed me a five-day course of Prednisone and a muscle relaxant.

The medicines seemed to help for a couple of days but the bulk of the pain just wasn't budging. Then in the middle of last week, my lower back started hurting tremendously; I attributed it to the fact that I had been sleeping on the couch.

This past Friday and Saturday I went to the chiropractor for adjustments. This relieved the pain in my back tremendously and while it still hurts quite a bit, it's not keeping me awake. I'm still VERY concerned, though, about the pain in my extremities, which simply isn't getting better. Even the chiropractor told me it was extremely unusual for all of my extremities to be affected.

I haven't experienced any significant weakness or fatigue and I only experience total numbness in my hands/feet if I sleep in an awkward position. I'm not having headaches more often than normal. The pain isn't really constant and I've been trying to just go about my daily life as normal, but in the last few days I've been having more and more pain while walking/standing (it doesn't help that I'm VERY flat-footed and had knee surgery last year). It's just so weird. Sometimes just my big toe will hurt and other times my entire arm will flare up with pain that lasts 15-20 seconds.

Please, if anyone has any suggestions as to what could be going on with my body, I'll be glad to hear them. I suffer from depression, which has intensified over the last couple of weeks to the point where I've been having suicidal thoughts every single day. I'm due to start graduate school in a different country in just about a month and I think I will literally lose my mind if it turns out that something is seriously wrong with me. I don't have health insurance and all these appointments and doctor's visits and prescriptions have already dealt quite a blow to my bank account. If I have to have MRIs and CT scans and then expensive treatment I'll be destitute for the rest of my life because I'm too stupid and awful to be able to get a high-paying job in the future, especially if I'm going to be disabled.
