gait problems

what can cause a foot to freeze to the floor when walking?  Also balance issues.  When foot freezes dad can stand there for anywheres from seconds to minutes before he can move.  Had surgery for spinal stenosis (6 fusions) actually got worse instead of better.  Has hydrocephalus with shunt.  All working well.  Docs ruled that out as cause.
falls at times and can't get up on own.  Also noticing memory problems.  Anybody have any ideas?  Sensory preception problems have been mentioned to me.  Going to U of M not to much info coming.....

Just logged onto this site to try to get info bout headaches and hydrocephalus.
I was diagnosed with hydrocephalus at birth and had an etv done 3 years ago. Since this time i would have sort term memory problems and balance problems.
Also quite regularly my foot would 'stick' to the floor, which is def a problem related to hydrocephalus. I would recommed going back to the neurosurgeon again and asking for a scan to check that all is well.

I know it does.  I work with the elderlly and this is what we see...but, the neuro doc he saw said he doesn't have it.  He does not shake at all.  But I have had residents that had parkinsons and did not have any tremors.  thanks
