i need answers for my daughter

I need some answers, my 16 yr old daughter started out with a headache 4 months ago on the left side of her head. The Doctors told us that she has migraine headaches he gave her some midrin for the headaches. The meds did not work. The headaches eaze up but did not go away completely. Then on January 31, 2009 the headaches came back really bad so bad that I had to rush her to the emergency room and she has had the same headache since. The Doctors change her meds to Tompax and Maxalt but that don't seem to be working. The doctor order a MRI on Feb 10, 2009 but have not heard from it yet. We went back to the military doctors but saw a different one this time. And we still could not get the results. But now my daughter is complaining of tingling and hurting in the face, legs, feet and waist down she's very weak, lay down at all times when home dont feel like getting up out of bed. I notice that her left eye lid droop a little and she says that she gets some blurred vision and sometimes the she sees a different color in her eyes. She has to have some kind of support when she walks. My daughter plays tennis, cheerleader and plays basketball very active in school now she dont function like the active teen she has always been. She has been keeping a journal on all of the different eposides.
I am a very concern mother and wish I could get some advice from someone. I know this is alot but someone please help

Finally got some answer from the neuro, and I am so please to hear what he had to say and I am sadden by what he says also. First to find out that my daughter is having migraines but it's not the little type of migraines that we see sometimes. She's having the extreme type of headaches. But we had the MRI and the MRI did not show anything wrong with the brain of spine. But the meds(tompamax) are the reason she is having so much problems with her arms legs hands and feet. She has to continue to take the meds, they are talking about increasing it. But on the other hand the MRI showed that she has a cystic lesion (a Mass) at the T4-T5 level along the anterior aspect of the vertebral column. Behind the lungs and in front of the spine. Just to the right of the descending aorta. If anybody have any answer for me please let me know.  I am open for anybody's answer. But I know God will heal her.

Hi...u r really being put thru the mill...sorry.

I do know low levels of vitamins  can cause tingling and twitching...B12...D...and minerals calcium, potassium and magnessium.

It is good they will be redoing the MRI's and getting her complete spine!!

Until then, there is not much u can do, but have her drink the water and keep hydrated and relaxed. And remember to get copies of all tests and reports.

Keep us posted on her condition...and ask ne questions...if we can help.....we will.

My daughter went to see the military doctors again today, today were not different from any other visit at the post. The only thing they did were increase the meds(topamax to 100mg a day). The military doctors got my daughter in to see a neurologist today and the neuro were not happy with what the military doctors were doing to my daughter, the neuro dr told me that the mri that were order for my daughter were a waste of time and money plus putting her through all that were uncall for. Because the mri were not order with contrast or any kind of dye. The neuro would not even look at the mri so she has to have another mri with gerd i think or some kind of meds. She's having a mri of the brain and mri of the spine. We also learned that the meds topamax can cause kidney stones which he were mad that the military dr's did not tell us the side affect for that meds. But he want her to stay on it but just drink alot of water water water to stay hydrated. He also told us that topamax can cause tingling in the fingertips. But she has tingling all over her body. He also want her to take B2 vitamins, she cannot do any activities like sports. Which she loves to do. I went to tricare today to take my kids out of the care of military doctors. With me fooling with military doctors I feel like I fail my daughter alittle cause she has depend on me all her life and I put her in the care of people I thought i could trust. I think God my daughter were sent on over to the neuro, we did not have an appointment but 1 doctor at the military base call the neuro and had her sent on over there to the neuro. But I pray that we don't have to see a military doctor again. I change my kids and myself doctors to internal medicine doctors. If anybody have any advice for me please let me know.

Hi, how r u we are still going through different symptons. Another thing I notice is that my daughter has started stuttering, having dirrahea and not eating much. I notice that the pain in the leg r not getting any better, she felt a little better today because yesterday I took her  to the er and they gave her 2 big shots for the pain but could not do anything else, because they are saying it migraines but send us home like everybody else does. Well she has a dr's appt tomorrow on Feb 19, 2009. I found out by my brother in law that I can go online to pull up any referrals that the dr order. And I did find the referral but did not see a date on it yet. But I will ask the dr. tomorrow what's taking so long to make the appt, No my daughter did not fall or have an accident the symptons started in october of 2008 her head just started hurting and the pain really never went away. but gotten worse. The MRI that were order without contrast or dye. I will have a list of questions tomorrow and when I leave the dr's office I will be going over to the insurance office(tricare) to changing their dr. I want a dr that when my kids get sick I can take them right in the office and not have to wait on a 2 -3 week appt. I had her sitting up on feb 16 in the recliner and my mom had her sitting up today for a little while, when I were at work today. But as soon as she gets home she get in bed.  Well I have to go to bed and get me some rest, because I am tired have to get up early to take the hour drive to the dr on base. Please contact me back and God bless you.

Hi..sorry ur daughter is going thru so much at this time of her life when she should be active with friends and school.

U can and may want to call the facillity that did the MRI study for copies...of the films and the report.

Do u know did ur Daughter have an accident or fall?

I am sure the MRI will help pin down what is going on....it will be easier to say what it could be with the MRI report.

From ur description it sounds like migraines with auras and the tingling and eyelid droupping sound like something like a pinched nerve and  can't quite pinpoint what else.

I am not a dr just like u looking for answers and support.
Please post an update of her MRI findings....I pray she feels like her old self again soon.
If u would like to talk u can PM me netime.

Godspeed
