lesion

4 months ago hours after a normal natural childbirth, I started getting a sever headache in the temporal part of my head, like an ice pick hit me, everyday at least 2x at most 8.  The sharp pain lasts for 25-30 seconds but the I feel it turns to a cramp for 30 min.  I had an MRI and a MRA of the brain.  MRA is normal, the MRI showed a 6mm lesion in the anterotemporal lobe.  I had a ct last year for a slight concussion which didn't show this lesion, also I have had numerous mri's of the brain due to a concussion 5 yrs back.  The nuerologist said he won't deal with "things" go to a neurosurgeon.   The nuerosurgeon said it is impossible to dx at this time, get another mri in 6 months.  My just had an eeg which was normal and a CBC which looked good and my pcp started me on a beta blocker which has given my a migraine for 4 days and dizzy, so I had to stop that.  I am lost I don't know where to turn next, is it just a headache, or in 6 months will this thing be grown  big enough to dx?

Ok, if there was no contrast enhancement on the lesion then it's probably useful to wait 6 months and repeat the MRI in order to make sure you go down the right path... unless you get new or changing symptoms in the meantime.

I'm not a doctor so don't rely too much on my opinion - I'd say if you are in doubt get a 2nd opinion, but I expect there are enough possibilities for the cause of a lesion like this that it's going to be difficult to fully define at this moment... you will probably have to wait before you can get an answer... unless you get new symptoms of course.

I know that probably doesnt help - and perhaps one of the doctors can chip-in something useful - but that's my 2 cents.

galodinium?

He may have been looking to see if the lesion was currently active.

Did the report mention any contrast enhancement?
