near blackout

hello all,

i was driving a car the other day and everything went all dark and all quiet including the music that was on on the radio. i went all hot and my heart beat fast and my mouth went all dry. i couldnt focus properly and had to reduce speed really quick. i almost blacked out and it took me a while before i came to. it was a very frighteneing experience. it happened briefly again the next day and i am almost afraid of driving now.

also my memory and concentration fells like it has taken a bashing since it happened.

i went to the doctor and he suggested a cardiologist but seemed to be very unconcerned about it all whereas i am very worried about it. i have had issues before with trances occasionally.

i would love if someone medical could help me with this and suggest something

thanks
ken

Back in 2003, i had my 1st panic attack. I had the same symthoms as you described. it actually happened to me 4 times while driving. I've been taking meds for it, doesn't seem to help at all. I signed up on here, now i'm reading everyones articles. With the car situation, i would slowly work my way back. there's that saying: take baby steps, drive around the block once a day, work your way back.

I'm not medical but please consider e.g. Trans Ischaemic Attacks and push your doc for at least blood tests and neuro and cardio referrals.

I've never had a panic attack so I can't speak from experience. But I've known people who have had panic attacks. From what I've seen it's very rare that a person in panic attack mode would allow themselves to be in sudden mortal danger as you describe. But who knows? You don't give any other info and there are so many factors that could be involved. Just think you need to get this looked at asap...

best wishes
