neurological cause urination problem

severe back pain in sciatic area.  can this cause urination difficulty?

Dear Dr(s);
Is there a cure for inability to urinate due to sciatica and in my case lumbo-sacral spondylolysthesis. I have to self cath every time. this has been the situation for 2 years.

i too suffer this problem and also have nerve damage  hope that it will corect its self as dont want to be like this foreva.

I have the same problem,. but I have nerve damage from a failed back surgery, and very recently found out that the nerves that run down your leg and sciatica, can cause you to not feel the need to urinate, or need to go but not be able to get started.  I actually have to lean on my left leg to get anything to come out.  Maybe your sciatica is so inflamed that it is causing those nerves that run through that area are being affected.  I found this out just about a month ago, and am not sure what they are going to do about it, but, I hope maybe it helps you a little.
