neuropathy and twitching

Hi,
In Feb 2012 I was sick the whole month with the flu. 105 fever for almost two weeks, coughing, body hurt... you get it. In May I started having more dizziness than usual (I have BPPV) and some numbness in my hands so my Dr sent me in for a brain MRI which came back normal. Skip ahead to August 2013 and my feet are all of a sudden numb and tingling ALL. THE. TIME. They haven't stopped. As well as continues numbness in my hands. I also keep getting muscle twitches in my right leg and foot and my right calf keeps tightening up (But I just started riding a bike as well). For a few days last week I had really sharp pins and needle pains here and there around my body as well. Yesterday I noticed my second toe next to the big one keeps moving on it's own. Not sure if it's a twitch or what. I have really low Vit D at 20. I haven't been able to afford going to a neurologist yet but have gone into an acupuncturist. I am currently detoxing and she wants me to get tested for Lymes. I am worried about MS. Other things I think it could be are low vit D, post viral syndrome, being too toxic (as I sew every day for a living with new chemical filled fabrics), or possibly lymes. Please tell me it's all in my head for being worried about that! Thanks!

Yes, I have had it, at first my Neurologist thought I might have Polyneuropathy (one of the Peripheral Neuropathies) so he had to rule that out, and he did with the EMG. I´m sorry that you don´t have health insurance, I hope you can do this somehow.
My best,

I am supposed to have an EMG done but I have to pay for it at the time of appointment and unfortunately we don't have health insurance... It's so frustrating knowing something is wrong and having health care so unavailable. Have you had an EMG?

Hi Snow, I´m sorry what you are going through. I recognize most of your symptoms, I have been having many symptoms like that for 3,5 years now. I still don´t know what is going on. My new "normal" is limbs tingling/falling asleep, twitching muscles at one place for a while and then comes on and off after that. Then twitching in new places, so now I can have a twitch almost all over, also stiff muscles (that came later). Myoclonus in fingers and toes (like you have in your toe).

So my advice to you would be to find a good Neurologist to help you find out what is going on. MS has many mimics so he would have to rule all of them out including Lyme. Have you had EMG? To rule out Peripheral Neuropathy? Many people have to wait for years to find out what is going on, so take care and try to keep calm. Most often this is nothing serious, could also just be your lack of Vit D. Feel free to "talk" if you have more questions :)

My best wishes,
Dagun
