After months of chronic headaches, my brother's CAT scan results show a 1/2" calcium depoist in the center of his brain. Please advise how serious this can be and what can cause this type of deposit in the brain.
: Dear TJ Stewart,
Thank you for the question. It would help to know how old your brother
is and where this calcium deposit is in the brain. Some parts of the brain
calcify with age, eg. pineal gland, the choroid plexus (this structure
produces cerebrospinal fluid). Blood vessel in the brain may also calcify
in certain situation. Calcification can also be seen in some types of brain tumor, infection, exposure to certain toxins.
I hope this helps. Good luck.
My brother is 30 years old. This deposit is located next to the pineal gland.
