rubbing hands and ears all the time

I have problems obsessively rubbing my ear lobes to the point where my ears have cartilage bumps. I also as a child I used to rub the tip of my nose back to the left and seemed to separate my nose from the cartilage in my left nostril. When I get excited or angry I zone out and rub my hands. It seems like when my hands are not busy they have to be rubbing my ears or nose. I also take my right pinkie finger and rub it on my right ring finger. It has put a bump on that finger from the excessive rubbing.

Interesting.  I hope someone who knows what that is will post.  You could also check at the "Ask The Doctor" section to the left of this forum, maybe you have a little disorder of some kind!  I've been stuck at home because of illness for a couple years, and I twirl my hair.  :)

Thanks for the help. As far back as I can remember I have been doing these things. I remembered something since my last post. My mother said I went to the doctor about this and she said I had something about a "Sailor's Salute" I believe that is what she said about that and some other big medical word that sounded like rhino something.

Well, could be a couple things.  One thing to check out is an allergy to various soap products.  The other is lots of tension in the body, which comes from stress, and can be relieved with good exercise as a routine.  Try different kinds of activity until you find something that makes you feel really good, the more strenuous the better.
