Any ideas on getting rid of sciatic pain.  Tramadol does nothing and the valium 5mg takes away the edge but its getting harder and harder to work and Im not in the position to take a few weeks off and let it rest like most doctors say to do.  Any ideas would be appreciated.

Sciatica is a set of symptoms that may be due to compression or irritation of the sciatic nerve, which may occur due to disc hernia, disc degeneration or spondylolithesis. So, the treatment modalities also range from anti-inflammatory, physiotherapy, non-surgical decompression or surgical decompression. But, surgical modalities may have 50% chances of relapse of pain. Before opting for surgical procedures, you should evaluate both the pros and cons. Hope this helps.

There are specific exercises a PT can give you. Get a prescription. Then when you are ready you have to follow a specific, consistant exercise program and do weights to strengthen your spine. What kind of work do you do?
