Hi Cath, Thanks for your your good wishes and for your continued support. I will keep you guys posted. lola252
Great news so far lola! I hope it continues and you find out it is a small thing that can be fixed quickly. Keep us posted! cath.
Hi all, I just wanted to update you on my condition (tingling in toes and fingers). All my blood work for diabetes, anemia, thyroid, B 12, cholesterol, etc were normal. I am just waiting for the results on the heavy metals. It was quite a relief to know I do not have diabetes, as everyone in my family of origin has or had it. Tomorrow I will make an appointment with a chiropractor to see if I a have bulging disk or pinched nerve somewhere. My next step are MRI and other more invasive tests but my doctor wants to read my old records first. So far, so good. Thanks so much for all your insights and support, it makes the process much easier when you are not alone. lola252
Hi Andrea, I am glad you mentioned a whole different and less scary possibility...I am really going to look into that. I actually thought about the possibilty that I may have a pinched nerve but ruled it out thinking it would have been too much coincidence having more than one pinched nerves as I have tingling in fingers and toes. But now that you told me that that was your case, it gives me some needed hope. Thanks, I really appreciate your advice. lola252
Have you tried a chiropractor? I had the same symptoms, and couldn't sleep at night. Turns out I had compressed nerves from several vertebrae in the dorsal and cervical area and also in my hip. That very day the tingling stopped and I could finally get a decent nights sleep.
Hope it helps, sometimes we think symptoms are relative a much more serious disease than we actually have.
Hi Shane, no MrI yet but I think it will come after the bloodwork. Thanks for suggesting it, your input is greatly appreciated. lola252
Hello Dr, Thanks for responding, I really appreciate your input. I have a feeling that it could be diabetes too as I have long hx of it in my family. They did bloodwork for B12 and many other things so we'll see. I will definitely keep you posted. Thanks again. lola 252
Hello, Thanks so much for all that information. I have been reading non stop, and all these feedback from you guys is very helpful in identifying possible diagnoses. I really appreciate it. I did have my bloodwork today but have to go back for heavy metals bloodwork next week. I have not been referred for any MRIS yet, the doctor is going from the least invasive procedures first. This forum has been very helpful to me. Thanks again. lola252
Hi,
Thanks for writing in.
I would suggest you to get tested for diabetes again as two years a really long time. Tingling in toes is a very common presenting feature of diabetic neuropathy.
Other causes can be vitamin deficiencies like B12 deficiency and nerve compression. I would also suggest you to take B complex supplements and see if they help with your symptoms.
Do keep us posted!
I am 41 I too have been suffering from numbness and tingling, to the point that it wakes me up almost every single night.I had , first one but ended up having 2 EMG/NCV one done on my hands and the other on my back(legs) they said I had bi-lateral carpal tunnel, and my back result showed polyneuropathy w/L-5 RADICULOPATHY. About a month later I asked my doctor to please run some blood work I just didn't feel right two days later the office called and said I need to come in right away. I have hypothroidism (?) They already did one CTS on my left ahnd and are operating on the right this friday, I see another Neurosurgeon for my nerve problem in my back at the end of the month. My point is this I've had this for a long time now and in the last two months all of sudden all these different tests are showing different problems, maybe its something different althogether who knows? But for years there was no proof and no one believed me. I have hypertension, chronic back pain, carpal tunnel, hypothyroidism, osteoarthritis,Neuropathy(poly), Raynauds(cold sensitivity)
Make sure your educating yourself about any possible diagnosis your doctor may come at you with. Good LUCK
Hi Cath, Thanks for your tips, I am getting my blood work tomorrow and I will make sure it includes B12 and all the bloods. I am glad it may be the damage may be reversible although a slow recovery. Best wishes for a full recovery. Take care, lola252
Hi lola. I ve had a similar problem for a long time. It turned out to be a Vit B 12+6 +folic acid deficiency. The biggest problem I had was my dr was only doing the basic blood work up and it was not showing up the real extent of the problem. I was receiving Vit B injections but was not getting any better until i saw a neurologist who did the full bloods .As a result of the deficiency I had developed sensory neuropathy. I am now being treated for the problem and started to feel better in a month. It takes time to correct this imbalence,I was told about 18mths before things are ok again. I hope this will be the case for you and not some thing more serious. Best of luck, Cath278.
