I have terrible thumping in my left ear and according to my hearing test I am profoundly deaf in that ear too. This came on very suddenly but because I had been diagnosed with Meniers disease about 10 years ago the consultant is not interested in carrying out further tests. The so called meniers disease took most the hearing in my right ear and symptoms were mainly vertigo. That cleared and then suddenly this ear gets attacked. Symptoms are totally different and to be honest I believe 'meniers' is just a name given to all ear problems that they dont understand.
I am worried and concerned but because I am part of a health system that will not investigate further I am trying to deal with it....very very hard to do!
My Ear thumping only occurs in my right ear and only when I hear certain birds like crows or blue jays cawing. It sounds like a small bass drum. I spend alot of time out side, so it is very annoying.
Hi,
How are you?
Your symptoms seem to suggest that they are due to pulsatile tinnitus or pulsations in the ear. These could be pulsations arising from the neighboring arteries and veins which are being transmitted to the ear due to the narrowing of the arteries.
Other causes can be diseases of the inner ear like Meniere’s disease or otosclerosis. If the problem persists please get yourself evaluated by an ENT specialist. Take care!
