My husband had a disk replacement in Aug. of 2008. Since then he has been on light duty at work with severe limitations of what he can do. They include, but not limited to :no climbing, lifting more then 5 lbs., bending, authorized to take rest breaks as needed, and not able to sit/stand for long periods of time.
Currently, his job has requested that he do a job that will require him to go up and down a set of stairs that has about 20+ steps(in a warehouse leading to a loft with no A/C in 90+degree weather) there would also be a good deal of bending to see the parts on the shelves that are low to the floor, and up on ladders for those that are on the higher shelves, not including all the stairs that he would be going up and down all day to get relief from the heat, to get water, to go to the restroom, to take breaks or lunch.
I will tell you that he did take the TCH(? I think that is what it was called) test to rate his disability, and see what range of ability that he has. During this test he was only able to go up a 12 step set of step 2 times befor it became so painful that he could not do it anymore, and it took a couple days for the pain from this test to dull.
So having said all that, do you think that this job that he is being requested to do would fall into his drs. restrictions? We do have a call in to his actual dr., but it could take atleast a day to get a response as it has to go from a voice-mail message to his nurse to the dr. and then a response back to the nurse and then to us.
