Do you think I should have ACDF procedure?

Three years ago I had mri that showed mild disc buldge at c5-6, c6-7.   I had it because I had severe right side neck pain from sports that required use of right arm.     No special treatment done, I just stopped all sports I loved like softball and tennis.   Now August 2010 I joined a health club and started swimming.   I was having increased left shoulder blade pain and then developed severe left arm pain from shoulder blade to wrist, the enitre circumfrence.  Then my index finger went numb. Pain much worse with sitting.    MRI shows Broad based disc protrusion at c 6-7 has increased since prior exam .  It effaces anterior subarachnoid space and mildly deforms ventral aspect of cord; Component of disc appears to compromise left foramen.  With relation to left sided symptoms, compromise of c 6-7 neural foramen presumable impinging left c7 nerve sleeve.   c5-6 broad based disc protrusion and osteophytes efface anterior subarachnoid space and mildly flatten ventral aspect of cord as prior mri.  Neuro surgeon has recommended c5-7 acdf with plate, grafting.
It has taken 2 months but the left arm pain isnt near as bad, I still have numb left index finger.
Do you think I am a candidate for c5-7 acdf?

Cages are preformed grafted pieces, well formed and ready to be tightly inserted with maximum security and minimal side effects with no pain in the hip (iliac crest).
