Severe DDD

Hi i am suffering from severe degenerative disc disease, i have taken an MRI, gone to physio therapy and talked to a neurosurgeon. recently (about a month ago) i injured myself lifting something i shouldnt have, and since that day my DDD has been even worse, including loss of bowel function, difficulty urinating, loss of muscle mass in my right leg/thigh/butt and loss of feeling on the right side of my right leg/foot/butt i have a surgery date for december, which is over a month away, i read somewhere i shouldve had surgery immediately after the loss of feeling in my foot. what should i do? i dont want to end up in a wheel chair or be disabled for the rest of my life because they are making me wait for surgery.

i cant find an edit button to add to my origional post. i shouldve added that when i try to walk im severely bent to the right side, when i try to stand up straight it hurts alot and it get severe pins and needles all the way down my leg to my foot. i cant sit without leaning on an arm of a chair or holding myself up, i cant lay down, if i do i toss and turn alot, and is very difficult to find any position that is even close to comfortable, i dont even know what its like to be completely comfortable anymore. is the surgery im going for in december going to fix me? is the feeling in my foot/leg/butt going to come back? and will my muscle mass return in time? traction doesnt help me anymore, if i put all my weight on my crutches and stretch it really hurts and causes pins and needles, i cant deal with this anymore, its gone on for too long, over a year total, but just over a month since ive lost the ability to do anything.

Unfortunately, you are too late for a total recovery!
.. sensation will never come back to its normal state, but what about your motricity and muscular force! if you wait for more 2 months, your recovery can happen only after 4-5 years of serious physiotherapy and motor rehabilitation meaning that chances are very low. you should do that surgery 1 month ago. Please consult you local advocate for other legal issues.
