New Treatments in Study for Depression and Bipolar?

This might provide some information on FDA approved treatments used off label for bipolar and depression.
Lovaza for bipolar:
http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/mhprograms/efc/Omega-3-acid%20ethyl%20esters%20(Lovaza).doc
Rilutek, Mirapex and RU-486 for depression (scroll down to the bottom of the page):
http://www.pendulum.org/meds.html
All of these are FDA approved medications that mood disorders specialists are understanding further for treatment of depression and bipolar and its good to have an understanding of where future research might lead with medications that are already FDA approved for other usages and in this case might be used by a mood disorders specialist if known treatments have failed.

You have to be the Kindess Soul I have ever met.( and by far the smartest )LOL I have what I guess are schizoid moments, If there is such a thing. I have been stable (for me) since we raised my seroquil and spaced my dosing. 50mg.2x daily 150mg.@ bedtime along with kolopin 05mgs.x3daily. During the spring I can get away with less kolopin but now that the weather is changing soooo is my mood. I should stick to doc. orders.
I will make that dredded phone call tomorrow to the phy.( I don't know why I have so much shame when I spiral down)
I want to study your original post and write down some links and see what has you excited, I know that this is your passion and thank-you for all you do for your own personal recovery because sooooo many others benifit.   Much Respect & Friendship

No. Its okay. People are not just a set of neurochemical transmisisons of course and we all have own lives and coping strategies, set backs and emotions, myself included. But there are some things that current medications doesn't treat quite as well as it should so that''s why research continues. I actually only invited people to this community who had shown an interest in new treatments which were a few. After that I put it on my personal page.
You could repost your original question on the bipolar forum if you want but I can't move it. As for the feelings you are having think if there is anything going on in your life that would stress you out or trigger them. Regardless speak to your psychiatrist about that and as to your physical symptoms you described speak to your psychiatrist to make sure they are not a medication side effect (which is doubtful) and your doctor as well as to see what's going on so it can be diagnosed and treated.

I have for the last couple of weeks really struggled with " spontaneous crying and suicideial ideation" now I haven't told any one this but my head feels fuzzy and my lymp nodes in my throat feel swollen, constant low grade headache and fever

If I was to give it a voice I would say SCREEMER IS BACK. She screams in order to silence the others... the one who wants to be a cry baby, the one who doesn't want to be here any more, The one who is PISSED ( a boy)
I want to cut ( but I won't )

I love your research....I love that you have seen and experienced improvement    I can't believe you sent me a notice ( probally along with 100's more)

I didn't mean to dump on you like this but now I will decide to post or delete
I think I will POST and see what happends
