hormonal imbalance or OCD

I am as new to this as it gets, so please be patient!
I am 31 weeks pregnant and within the last two/three weeks, I have been dealing with a very sudden change. (First of all, I would like to make anyone reading this very aware of the fact that I am an extremely kind hearted individual. I would never hurt anyone and in the past have never had any desires to.) However, my issue lately has been intrusive thoughts. This takes up literally, most of my day. Thoughts about violence or hurting the people I love the most. In the OCD spectrum, I believe this is called "Pure O" or Purely Obsession OCD. I am well aware of the fact that I wouldn't ever act on these thoughts, that is what makes them so hard to bare and literally distressing. I am wondering if anyone else suffers from this, or has suffered from this in the past. I just feel like I need some extra support to help myself get over this hurdle in my life..

ocd treatment consisits of medication and cognitive behavior therapy, medications are ssri class of medication used for ocd.

for therapy if you are unable to go to a therapist you can start it at home by the book Overcoming Obsessive Thoughts: How to Gain Control of Your OCD  by purdon and clark, this book is very helpful, the effect of combination of both medicine and therapy will be best

you have to consult a psychiatrist, normal doctor would consider it as general anxiety from stess, it seems that you are first time attacked by harm ocd, i have suffered from it, but once you recover from ocd, these thoughts will disappear and you can have your normal life again

(I am currently pregnant with my second child.) Obviously, as most mothers do, my child is the most important thing in my life .... so it must be obvious what my awful thoughts revolve around ... It seems as if OCD tends to attack the very people and things you love more than life itself. It is so distressing. My oldest child is the LIGHT OF MY LIFE. She has been my strength through so many hard times, in her three years. I do not understand how my brain can even think some of the things it does. All I can do is continue day by day & pray for healing. I am currently taking Buspar for anxiety and Zoloft for depression. (The hardest thing about of this is, I live in a very rural town in TN. Most people in this tiny, southern, town frown upon mental illness in the first place. Any doctors here would truly have to be educated about OCD and the symptoms I am dealing with to even half way understand it. They automatically think people are just "crazy." But, I fear having my daughter taken from me or being sent into some sort of facility if I explain what is going on.

Oh yes...I have been there.  But you are right you will never hurt anyone.  When I was in therapy for it I was told to go into a dark room and imagine myself hurting the ones I love and after you do that a while it becomes a chore and those thoughts will go away.

Here is a breathing exercise you can do to calm yourself down.  Take a deep breath in through your nose, hold it for 5 seconds and count this out in your head, then let it all out through your mouth.  Practice lying down at first but you can really do this at any time and any place and nobody will even know you are doing it.

Is this your first baby?  Stress makes OCD worse and yes the hormone changes and the fact that you are going to have a baby to take care of can be stressful times.

Let me know if I can be of more help.  Take care!
