Hi Donna, I have an amazing variety of OCD symptoms and know exacly what you are talking about. Have you found the 'OCD Tribe' website, it's an online community of people with OCD, I'm from UK but I think the website is based in the States, there is a lot of people with OCD from the states on there anyway. It's a great site for information and to talk to others with OCD. You'll be OK sweetheart, don't worry too much, once you have realised what the problem is you have already taken a positive step towards doing something about it, I would go and see a doctor about it as well though if it is becoming a real problem. I waited for years before I was finally forced to seek help because I am tremendously stubborn! LOL take care, and feel free to contact me (Can you do that on here? I don't know, I only joined this site two minutes ago :) if you want to chat about OCD. Good Luck X
It does sound like you have some common symptoms of OCD. You should look up a therapist who specializes in ERP (exposure response therapy) and CBT (Cognitive behavioral therapy), but CBT is most important of the two. If you can't afford or don't have health insurance, buy a few books on CBT so you can do a self- step program. Also, you could find a psychiatrist and go once a month to get medication to help you with your OCD, along with the self CBT books, and have your family members or friends help you with your CBT or ERP. Just know that it is a brain disease, and it is not you who is weird or out of control, OCD is a symptom of the disorder of your brain, and if it feels like OCD, then it is OCD.
