Yes that could be from ocd but it depends whether that's your diagnosis. Obsessive thoughts can sometimes mask psychotic thoughts as one psychiatrist told me before my recovery. Or you could have ocd in addition to what you are diagnosed with. So it all depends. You should speak to your psychiatrist about it. As for ocd, medication, talk therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy work together. I still do have some symptoms that are ocd like myself and its very hard for me to be around people who are coughing or sneezing even before the current concern about swine flu so I may have some form of ocd as well but I could not take the medications usually used for it (SSRI anti-depressents) as they would make me manic (I have the bipolar aspect of schizoaffective). Cognitive behavioral therapy was very effective for a person I know who is diagnosed with ocd and (before medication existed for it) it enabled him to stop taking 4 hour showers so if you have compulsions like that that's one thing worth inquiring about.
Yes I take prozac for my OCD's and when I say OCD's I have, trust me I do!!! Im diagnosed as the following: bipolar 1 with pyschosis, Obsessive Compulsive Behaviour ( you should see my home and closets, nothing is a mess) and now schizophrenic from what my caseworker is telling me. I am still calling my dr on Monday because I don't recall that portion of our visit however I have been forgetting things with my short term memory. Its very frustrating to say the least.
So, there you have it, all of my diagnosis thus far and Im 32 years old and oh yes I forgot the ADHD and med for that is aderol!
