OCD and feeling guilty help

Ok, to start, I am not proud of my behavior last night. I went out with some friends and drank a little too much to the point of being drunk. I parked my car at my friends house right by the street in his driveway and planned on staying over at his house that night. The street is in a college town and my apartment is only 2 miles away.

Anyway, i drove home last night which I am not proud of at all. I feel terrible about it. I am having OCD right now like "what if I hit someone and didn't notice?" I called both police depts. and made sure there were no hit and run accidents. The thing is, my left mirror was pushed in, like when you push it in when you go through the car wash. No damage to my car at all anywhere. And also, on the passenger door handle, theres this little red splotch that I thought was blood which fueled this whole worry thing.

After closer examination, it looks like someone spit on my car and its brown with what looks to be food or something right in the center. I drive a new mercedes, which leads me to believe that some drunk college kids probably just messed with it, since it was right by the road and right next to the sidewalk where tons of drunk kids walk by.

Overall, I feel terrible about what I did. I was never going faster than 25-35, and I remember most of the drive. I have never done this before and I guess just want to know what I should do about this aside form never driving drunk again. It scares me to think about what I would do if I hit someone and didn't know. I just wasn't in a good frame of mind and I have been dwelling on this all day and cant get any work done. Any help with this? Thanks

It is unlikely that you will hear from iDaleo since the post is an older one so I'm going to jump in here.

First of all you are definitely not alone.  There are a lot of compulsions that people have to do because of the urge they get and if they don't sate that urge then they get anxious.  This is your eye blinking for instance and rubbing your face.  Compulsions are really habits and like any habit it can be broken.

The first thing is since you are a teenager I suggest that you talk to you parents.  You don't have to mention the porn if you don't want to because that really doesn't have anything to do with OCD.  What you need is to have someone take you to a psychologist that specializes in CBT, cognitive behavioral therapy.  These compulsions can be dealt with along with the stress you are under which makes the compulsions worse.  You really need to get the ball rolling on it now before you go away to college.  College is a big stress in people's lives and now is the right time for you to seek the help you need to get past this.

As far as telling friends, well some may understand and others may not.  The way to explain it is that people with OCD are lacking enough serotonin in their brains.  Serotonin has to do with cell to cell communication and it affects mood along with a lot of other things if you want to look it up.  Just like a diabetic needs to take insulin shots, we need to take medications sometimes that give us more serotonin.  These medications are called SSRIs or selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.  So you may need CBT, medication or both.  The main thing is you are not weird, many people have OCD and it is very treatable.

Post again if you have any questions.  And so you know, I suffer from OCD as well.  I have had it since I was a teenager and I'm 47 now.  As a parent, I would help my child anyway I could so I hope that you have an open relationship with your parents because you really need them to help you out here.

You should hear something about that on the local news.
You may be ok now but if you drive drunk again and again there are chances to hit someone. So you'd better sleep in car from now till mornin ,whenever you'll get drunk.
You don't need necesarly to hit someone, you'd better think of the fact you're still alive, and no legs or hands lost in an accident.
So from now on drink with responsibility, and never hurry on such circumstances. Better to get home later than never.
Take care ,bye bye "young and restless" :)
