Brett's ribs

by Gallypro, 2 minutes
Hi there , I fell on Ice in my drive way and landed on my back ribs after my feet slipped straight out in front of me. It was violent fall onto my back , the pain was located on my mid to lower ribs.  X-rays were looked at by a GP and looked okay.  The pain was moderate when I was not moving but if I moved a certain way it was violently sharp. It's no three days later and I can hardly even walk without triggering this paralizing spasm. . Getting in out of bed is getting to be so painful. I'm see my GP tomarow , do you have any suggestion what is happening ?

it could also be a disk, presssing on a nerve ....which also wont show up on your x-ray.A Dr would know better than me, but there is a muscle that wraps around your spine and due to a back injury i to have had these spasms also.if you happen to get physiotheropy...like ive done before,i found that when they used a (tense machine) on me...... it .....induced these spasms and now i refuse to have this treatment.get your Dr to book an MRI scan!!!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
This could be an injury to the intercostal muscles, that is the tissues BETWEEN the ribs. These injuries can be very painful, and are not seen on x-rays.  Healing time can be between 6 to 12 weeks. Rest and NSAID's may be helpful. Rib belts and taping are avoided because they tend to retract breathing even more than the injury itself.
