Complex cyst and no period 60 days

What to do next? History of problem: I will be 39 on 7/7/07. Last GYN/PAP was 3/5/07. I have not had a period since Feb 23rd,07 (1st day LMP). I have been experiencing normal pms symptoms, but no period. Finally called my PCP for an appt 4/17. Explained for last 2 weeks have been exp. lower abdominal cramping, bloating increasing in frequency and intensity. Preg test came back negative. P.S.--this is a physicians asst I saw at this appt. She performed pelvic exam, felt mass in right ovary area, was sent stat to hosp for ultrasound. Before I left "I" asked for blood test to check hormone levels. Stat ultrasound (which was HIGHLY painful)came back w/ 5 cm cyst on right ovary, complex. The PA when I talked to her suggested that it appeared to be partially collapsing and filling with blood. She suggested bc pills and pain meds. I declined both (Ihave NEVER been able to tolerate bc pills, even the lowest doses, and I smoke and am over 35). She stated if I do not start my period in the next 10 days to come back in. The pain the following day & 1/2 was awful. I still am bloated and have occasional cramping, just like I'm about to start, but nothing. I am dizzy on top of it. My hormone levels came back in the "normal" range. My question has to do with me reading more about complex cysts on the web. Yes, I have prev. been diagnosed with endometriosis, and had a fallopian and functional cyst removed on this same ovary by laparascopy 3 years ago.
Question: I guess my "research" has led me to be more concerned about this cyst than my doctor's office is.#1: Should more be done at this point than wait?? #2: Should I avoid going back to this doctor/p.a. and head straight to a gyn?? (I did not contact my gyn about this at 1st because after my exam last month, my ins. co didn't pay because this office wasn't a network provider. I would need to search a doctor out of town, none available in mine). #3: Do I need to stay off the internet and stop throwing myself into an anxiety tizzy and assume all is well :-) Thank you so very, very much!!

My periods have never missed, except when pregnant. Endometriosis was mild (5 small lesions burned off). My cycle is usually 21-25 days, very heavy. This is why lack of periods concerns me as I have had cysts before w/ no cycle interruption. I just don't understand how a cyst can cause interruption of a cycle yet hormone levels be normal.

Hi There,
thank you for the complete information.
i think your care has been good and you have had a good work up. It may be that you have a cyst related to endometriosis. Or it could be a functional cyst. You should definitely get a followup ultrasound. If the cyst is still present, that is a reason to consider another laparoscopy.

Now if your pain is worsening, that is a reason to go to the emergency room to make sure that the cyst is not twisting (torsion) That is a reason for surgery now.
best wishes
