Dear Totie,
Turtle has this completely right.
Those ovarian cysts are tiny. Depending on your age and menstrual cycle, they are probably related to ovulation.
Now, there is benign condition called adenomyosis. This causes the muscle wall of the uterus (the myometrium) to thicken . This is due to normal uterine lining cells to penetrate the myometrium. With periods, there is alot of pain and heavy flow.
Sometimes the pain and bleeding are so significant that one considers a hysterectomy.
It is perfectly safe to wait a month to chat with your doctor about this. You could also bring in a pain diary where you document every day where your pain is and when your periods are to see if there is any relation to menstruation. That will really help your doctor out in understanding if your pain is related to a gyn cause.
best wishes
Hi. By no means am I an expert and Dr. Goodman is wonderful and will be much more help. I just wanted to maybe ease your mind while you waited for Dr. Goodman's response. I think that heterogeneous mymoetrium means that the lining of your uterus shows different textrures. Myomas are fibriods, which are benign. I have heard that heterogeneous enhancement occurrs on CT scans with contrast if you have fibroids. (This happened to me w/ tiny fibroids.) Ovarian cysts are common and are usually benign. I am not sure about the back pain. Good luck!
