Puberty ALREADY???

I am convinced my 7-year-old daughter has already started going through puberty and I am so upset.  First, I noticed she was getting a couple of dark hairs under her arms.  Then my mother noticed that she had body odor and I had to start buying her deodarant.  More recently, she has started breaking out on her face.  I just don't know what to do!  Do I seriously have to teach my young daughter how to shave her armpits???  I am so worried she is going to be starting her period as well.  Has anyone else went through this?  The doctor told me not to worry unless she started developing breasts.  I know she is growing up but I didn't expect this so early...

My goodness! My son is 6 and my daughter will be 5 in March and this freaks me out a bit I have to say! I remember I got my period when I was 9 by the time I was in second grade I was wearing a "training" bra.  It was horrible.  And nowadays ppl are puting hormones in our meats and milk and who knows what other foods.  If I started at an early age does that mean my kids will too?  That scares me.

Another thought.

You know that soy, tofu, soy milk, anything from soy has phytoestrogen in significant amounts? Could this form of estrogen influence puberty onset in girls?

Along with better food, better medical care, better natal and neo-natal care which yield bigger faster growing kids there is the suggestion that hormones in foods and hormone-like compounds are having a profound influence on the time of appearance of puberty. Also see 'epigenetics'. These are gene modifiers inherited from genertions before.

My daughter just turned 8 this past July and she has already started to develop breasts and her vagina is covered with dark hair. I didn't freak out so much because right before she started to develop my 10 year old son had underarm hair and full pubic hair growth and I immediately took him to the dr. He said not to worry. But he did mention I should be concerned if it was my daughter. So.....great. I don't know what it is. I am a vegetarian. But their father is not and neither are they on a regular basis.

I have 24 now, but I started my period at age 8, and started going through puberty at 7, it is normal, Maybe you should sit her down and have the puberty/period talk with her before she starts and is scared.  Get some advise, I wish I would have had.

Believe it or not, but last night there was a segment on the local news network about young girls going through puberty at a much younger age.  According to the report, the latest research states that young girls who live in a stressful environment may go through puberty earlier than girls who live in a more stable environment.  I've included a link to which you will note is a very reputable news network.

Wow i can't say i have seen this before, maybe you should listen to your doctor and not worry until she does start to delevlop breasts or gets a period, i do know which it does amaze that when a baby girl is born they can get a period just bleeding and it goes away, i was very shocked when i heard that, your daughter has probably notice these changes too, why don't  you discuss this with your daughter, i really don't think you have anything to worry about
