Thank you so much for your help. I did speak to her teacher today and it seems my daughter has a case of the complaints. I guess I didnt notice it because that is just the way she is, but the teacher is really noticing that she can have a perfect day but at the end of it she will compain about it. We can do everything under the sun for her and she will enjoy it but at the end of the day she will complain.
She is in many activites including dance, paino and soccer.
I did make a dr appt for her today at 2:45 because I am concerned. Hopefully we will find out what is going on.
Thank you so much, you were a breath of fresh air!
It could be a one time occurance or even a two or three time occurance but that is normal. Everyone has bad days. Depression is sustained over at least a two week period every day. But I think she definatly had the blues and that needs a plan. She mentions her social life . . . I would start to help her with this. Can you help her along with some playdates? What about an activity that she enjoys---- girlscouts, dance, etc. I'd also check in with her teacher and ask how her peer relationships are. Maybe she needs a little help on HOW to make a friend. Counselors in schools often run programs for kids that need a little help. Our school calls them "friends groups".
The other questions are the normal questions that kids ask. Understanding God and faith is hard for little ones. To reason with it or make total sense is difficult for many adults. Faith is what it is---- believing. That comes with time, so just reassure her through it. And all kids worry about their parents not being there from time to time. She may be hearing about the kids in Haiti or something like that. Reassure her.
Good luck and if it lasts and is daily for two weeks or more, schedule a visit with a therapist/psychiatrist. Depression is treatable. But remember that the blues are different and we all have those from time to time. Peace.
