Am I going overboard?

As some may know, my son was bullied by a certain classmate, today it was the last straw, he got punched by that some classmate with another one. Each one threw a punch at my son's chest. After consulting some people and asking for opinion, my husband and I made a police report. Am I going overboard by doing this?

I completely agree.  I think if more parents would take a stand in their children's lives this world would be in a better place right now.  I know that sometimes you have to let a child deal with things on their own, but with a bully there should be no question.  Stand up for your little one because that is part of the deal when God entrusts us to care for a child.  I say you go girl!!!!

No you are not going overboard.  I am currently having the same problem with the school.  I have asked the school to move my child to a different class room (elem. school) and I was put off.  I went down to the superintendent's office and made a formal complaint.  I spoke with the assistant superintendent and the county school security officer, who both seemed to be suprised the school has allowed this to go on.  I also told them if I did not see any changes in 3 days I would be filing a criminal charges against the child and the school for indagerment, assult and discouragemnt.  I was told I should have results within two days.  If I do not have results within two days, you better believe I will be down at the police station filing a complaint againt the school and the student.  When it comes to your child, you must be their advocate, because no one else will.
