discipline

Hi I have a 10 year old, a 5 year old and a 5 month old. I have been having some mild behavioral issues with my 10 year old son since he was 6. He always has had a whining and talking back issue and he probably hasn' t stopped because of the way I have dealt with it for so long. I had allowed him to argue with me. Anyway, he had never disrespected a teacher, but yesterday was the first time he complained about homework to his after school teacher. He has no shame in getting loud in public, that is a big concern of mine, although he is shy in front of his friends and teachers at school he still seems to get into trouble for talking and fighting. Can you help me find a solution for his recent issues at school?

Did the teacher not like him complaining or was it the way it was done, did you ask your son what happened for his input, have a talk with him ,as this was an isolated incident I am wondering that if he normally shy at school what happened to trigger this, give your son the benefit of the doubt. The time frame you say your son stated to have behavioral issues was soon after you had your other child so possibly there have been jealousy issues ,this is very common and you could give him plenty of extra one to one  positive attention, outside sports and games, ask his Dad to be involved ,very often Dads work and they dont get to have fun with their children it is important to make sure Dad does do sports and Games with them,Good Luck
