rolling to tummy to sleep

ladies... my 4 month old can roll from his back onto his tummy, but refuses to roll from his tummy to his back, he has been rolling onto his sides for about 7w now. I'm so paranoid that he rolls onto his tummy wile sleeping and suffocates cause he won't roll back over onto his back. he has always slept on his back til now, i went in to check on him and he was practically on his stomach to sleep :s any tips / ideas to try stop him rolling over in his cot? otherwise it's a sleepless night for me x

My son while awake will roll from back to tummy then tummy to back..but he sleeps always on his back and the only time on his tummy is if he is sleeping on me ? So idk if that is normal or not :/ I have heard alot of babies love to sleel on their tummy starting at an early age but ya I would be freaked out also but I think your son is old enough to move his head out of the way if he feels uncomfortable or something is bothering him

My 3 1/2 week old won't stay on her back, she rolls to her side the moment we set her down.

When my children were babies we were told they had to sleep on their stomach now they say backs.  This was to prevent SIDS
From what I understand the position is only important while they are very young, once they can roll over it is ok.

What I've always been told is that once they can roll to their stomachs they are okay to sleep on them. I never tried to stop my kids once they could roll. You can buy sleep positioners but those are frowned on by doctors more then letting them roll over. What I would do is make sure there is nothing in the crib that he could press his face up against like stuffed animals, bumper pads, blankets, etc. and just let him sleep on his tummy if he rolls over.
